Idan Hojman LAND - A journey of self-discovery and beauty

Land is a photographic project made in my home land, Israel. In this project I chose to capture the beauty of the Land in its purest form, the Land of Genesis, The Land that was here much before man came and start fighting over it, The Land that is still here just under our feet but somehow we tend to forget. I believe that getting closer to nature reminds us of our true nature as human beings. And in nature you can observe that there are no separation, no borders, everything is part of a whole and therefore there is a sense of harmony and beauty. I’m convinced that only from this holistic perception we have a chance to solve the conflict (any conflict) and evolve into a new state of consciousness. The lecture is a visual presentation of my project and an invitation to join my journey of self-discovery and beauty.

Barefoot and Naked, Part 2

This panel will explore how to be more in our bodies and less in our heads. Disconnect from ourselves and the feeling of being ungrounded often arises, because we favour the activities in our head to what we are actually sensing and feeling. Getting energetically and emotionally naked – but not actually so – will help to make us more sensitive to our internal and external experience of life and will contribute to more aliveness and vitality. The panel includes partner exercises and meditation.

Confidence is the choice to cross through fear and use it as attention to our surroundings. Reactions to fear such as insecurity or extra mind control create a false “safety feeling”, based on past experiences. These automatic reactions draw our attention inwards and lead to relive those past experiences, disconnecting us from the actual present situation. If we agree to experience the uncertainty of the future and the unknown, we are driven to move our attention to what is happening now, from moment to moment. We become more sensitive and aware and therefore more connected and influential. This Workshop contains lecture and exercises, that will connect you to your body and teach practical tools to walk this earth with confidence.

Melanie Sehgal with Deborah Haaksman; Habits of thought, lures for feeling. On modern ways of knowing and the need for wandering.

Lecture and Talking Circle

This lecture takes us on a mind-brightening journey, identifying crucial elements that colour the mentality of the modern world. It sheds a light on the cultural taboos which implicitly restrict our spirit's desire to go 'on adventures of hope' and focuses on habits of thought that create stumbling blocks for spiritual practices.

In particular, we'll examine the modern notion of a scientific fact and its explanatory power, but also its power to explain away other modes of experiencing the world, like spiritual experiences, relegating them to the realm of the unscientific, the merely subjective, the private or, “the esoteric”. Through taking a stance that is at once historical and speculative, the lecture will trace how, from a modern idea of science and its having become a generalized standard for the collective validation of knowledge, familiar bifurcations set in: the bifurcation between knowledge and belief, the objective and the subjective, body and spirit, fact and fiction, matter and meaning.

The lecture will draw on the speculative philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead, a visionary philosopher and mathematician of the 20th century. It will start out from the question whether what he described as „a bifurcation of nature“ – the split into two concepts of nature that are incompatible with oneanother: nature „as such“, materialistically conceived, and nature as subjectively perceived – still shapes our habits of thought today. It will then look for alternative ways of thinking and raise the question whether spiritual practices could acquire a new importance in changing modern habits of thought. For Whitehead „modern science has imposed on humanity the necessity for wandering” - physical wandering but also adventures of thought and adventures of feeling – that's what Earthwalking is all about!

The lecture is followed by a guided talking circle to share our experiences as spiritual practicioners and professionals within the lecture's context.

Epiphany Circle, Forrest Yoga Teachers only

We want to invite all Forrest Yoga teachers who participate in the Festival into the epiphany circle for a “professionals only” meet-up of sharing and learning from each other!

9 teachers of all levels (who are not already teaching at the festival) will have the stage for 10 minutes to share one of their current epiphanies, researching subjects of yoga and bodywork, interesting methods of your own practice with a pose, Yoga- Nerd knowledge of some sort that enlights you and should be shared!

Please write us and email with your wish to take the talking stick - so we all can participate in your sacred journey of being a Forrest Yogi.

As we might not have enough space for all of you, we will have the special role of selecting the 9 people. Participation is bound to a Festival Ticket or Day pass.

Brian Campbell; Touching the Sacred - Releasing the Neck & Shoulders in Savasana

Learn how to create the best Savasana hands-on assist ever! Savasana is the resting pose at the end of a yoga class, a time to bathe in the energy collected during the practice.  You will be guided in this hands-on workshop how to perform basic Myo-Fascial Release Bodywork techniques on a partner. Our focus will be on honoring the Beauty and Sacredness of Touch while learning techniques that address common neck pain, headaches, anxiety, tight shoulders, and short breath. No experience or partner is necessary, you will be paired up.

This workshop panel will guide you through Forrest Yoga poses in combination with deep voice exploration and toning. You will be guided to connect to the chakras bottom up, using poses, breath-work and the subtle but powerful effects of toning to free and clear the body of energy blocks. With a clear body, you will be able to explore connecting to your authentic true voice, the voice that connects the  inner world to the outer world and the outer world to the inner world. This workshop is not just about using one’s voice to sing, it is about connecting to one’s ability to speak one’s truth authentically.

Sandra Heider; Barefoot and Naked, Part 1

Earthwalking elicits the image of walking the earth barefoot and naked in order to feel her fully. Even though we won’t take our clothes off– apart from our shoes and socks - we will explore the connection we have with mother earth, with ourselves and with our surroundings. To truly connect to our spirit, the ground and the environment, we need to strip away the layers that stand in the way of that immediate experience. These layers are often blockages and tensions in our body – caused by physical contractions, but also by mental and emotional ones – which hinder us to feel completely and to be truly alive. The morning intensive uses a strong Forrest Yoga backbend sequence to get energetically and emotionally naked creating space to take off some layers of shielding, so that we can walk the earth in a freer way.

Jambo 'Dragon'; Connecting to the ground-walk in beauty.

Active feet is a basic move of Forrest Yoga, one of the essentials which Jambo will teach throughout this class to provide us with the basic movement vocabulary of Forrest Yoga.
By learning to walk with active feet we awaken to become Earthwalkers.

Establishing a personal relationship, a feedback with Earth helps us to be grounded and conscious in our body. It allows us to get into a position of trust and to sense various layers of support and connection. From there, we can open up to breathe deeply.
Working with the key structural muscles, Jambo will experientially guide us through a yoga practice unravelling tightness from feet, legs, hips and lower back, creating sustainable space to embody spirit and begin Earthwalking.

This Forrest Yoga intensive will contain a 1h Ceremony of calling in the 4 directions, chanting, drumming and singing in the beginning.
